It’s 2019…..You Do You.

To whoever is reading this, I hope that its a really great year for you.

Who else loves this saying? You do you. (Even better ended with ‘Hun’ for added effect)

Whatever they are, set some goals (big or small), do more of what makes you happy, grow and don’t let anyone stop you, worry less and smile more, and really make the most of every day or experience. I don’t know about you, but I thought last year flew by and even though I made some incredible memories, I’m writing this on 5th January and still can’t believe it’s now 2019?! I guess time flies when you’re having fun.

So, I think we should all be a bit more spontaneous with our time and our choices, care less what people think, not overanalyse decisions (apart from the important ones!), ask yourself “Why not?” more often and try new things, remember it’s also okay to be selfish at times! I know this all sounds like a cliché new years resolution, but it’s just something to focus on.

What am I working on related to this? Anyone who knows me (very) well knows that I can really stress about making certain decisions. I worry about what is the ‘right’ thing to do because of the fear of letting anyone down or causing someone upset. After recently reaching out to a friend for some advice…..or as I put it “Please help! I need a responsible adult”, I’ve realised that you can’t always please everyone, you’ve got to make your own choices for your own life and priorities. *insert a favourite and appropriate quote*

Be who you are and say what you feel. because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.  – Bernard Baruch.

Humans are judgemental, it is just in our nature. So people will have their opinions on whatever you do, wear, say, eat, mingle with, watch, drink, listen to….the list goes on. Think about how many people you know? How many Facebook friends you have or Instagram followers? A lot of those aren’t your friends or are in fact strangers – but you share your life with them and that’s fine, but they will be judging you. In both reality and the social media world, its up to you to ignore and rise above any snide comments, disapproving looks or the rumours/ gossip you hear behind your back. As for you reading this, you know that you’re also a guilty party (we all are), but you can make a conscious effort to not be judgemental, but be discerning.                                                         It’s your life and you choose how you want to live it every day. Don’t sweat the small stuff, there is a lot more to life than the opinion of others. You do you.
